Petroleum Chemist

Petroleum Chemists analyze the chemical properties of petroleum products and help develop more efficient methods for extracting, refining, and using petroleum resources. They work with crude oil, natural gas, and their derivatives to develop better fuel products, lubricants, and other petrochemical products. Petroleum Chemists often work in the oil and gas industry, in research and development, or in laboratories analyzing fuel composition and quality. A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is required, and knowledge of organic chemistry, thermodynamics, and materials science is essential. Petroleum Chemists play a key role in enhancing energy production, developing sustainable fuels, and improving industrial applications.
